Jan[23]- First extract, the scorching rocker Heatseeker reaches UK #12.
Feb[13]- Blow Up Your Video hits UK #2 and will reach US #12.
Apr[2]- Blow Up Your Video is certified gold by the RIAA.
[9]- Thats The Way I Wanna Rock n' Roll makes UK #22, as the group begins a major tour to promote the album, the cousin Steve Young replacing Malcolm for the trek. Press reports suggest that Malcolm is trying to kick a chemical dependency habit, though it is also rumoured the he wishes to look after his ailing son.

During an AC/DC sabbatical, Wright asked to play on Dio's album Lock Up The Wolves, and subsequently leaves to permanently join his band, to be replaced by rock verteran Chris Slade, ex-Manfred Mann's Earthband, and the Firm and Gary Moore.
1990
Apr- The group begins recording The Rozor's Edge with producer Bruce Fairbairn, in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Sept[29]- Thunderstruck is issiued via a new contratc Atco, reaches UK #13.
Oct[4]- The RIAA certifies platinum sales for If You Want Blood You've Got It, Let There Be Rock and Powerage and sales of three million for Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.

[23]- Back In Black surprasses RIAA-certified US sales of ten million.
[27]- The Razor's Edge hits US #2, AC/DCs highest-charting US album since 1981.
