Feb[19]  While recording in Britan, Scott and musician friend Alistar Kennear spend the evening at the Music Machine on Camden Town, London, watching groups Protex and the Trendies, while consuming a large amount of alcohol. Kenear drives Scott back to his house in East Dulwich, South London, leaving him asleep in the car.
[20]- Kennear returns to the car to find Scott inconscious, and drives him to nearby King's College Hospital, where he is pronounced dead. The coroner will record a verdict death by misadventure, stating that Scott had "drunk himslef to death".

Apr- The group having announced Johnson, former lead singer of the UK band Geordie, will replace Scott, beging recording Back In Black at Compass Point Studios, Nassau, Bahamas.
June[28]- Reissued Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and It's A Long Way To The Top make UK #47 and #55 respectively.
July-After preliminarywarm-up gigs in Belgium and Holland, AC/DC embarks on its Back In Black world tour in the US, a trek which will take in Europe, Australia(wish they have not returned to since 1977) and first visit to Japan.

[18]- AC/DC headlines the "Monsters Of Rock" festival at Castle Donington for the second time, before a crowd of 65,000, as  its mini-album 74' Jailbreak reprising tracks in Austrlia almost decade earlier, makes US #76.

Jan[19]- The group takes part in the "Rock In Rio" festival at Barra da Tijunca in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, headlining a bill featuring Ozzy Osbourne, the Scorpions and Whitesnake, before an estimated crow of 342,000.
Jule[13]- Fly On The Wall hits UK #7.

Aug[29]- Fly On The Wall is certified gold by the RIAA.
Sept[7] Fly On The Wall reaches #32 in the US, as the band undertakesits correspondingly-named tour of the US.
